The rules (translation of version 1.8 from January 16th, 2012)

DruckenE-Mail

shall ensure a smooth process of the CityLiga and also provide a basis for the participants to be in good terms with each other.
Any times given later on represent German time, which is CET (UTC+1) or CEST (UTC+2) respectively.
(Changes to the previous version are written italic)

  1. Requirements for participation:
    • Live for Speed S2
    • minimum age of 16 years at the beginning of a season
    • registration at the CityLiga-homepage
    • TeamSpeak3 with working headset
    • time on Monday evening, because traditionally beginning from 20.30h the races will take place on the LfS-servers of the CityLiga. For actual dates see the current schedule {German word= "Rennkalender"}.
  2. Application:

In case you meet the criteria mentioned above, you can apply for a CityLiga-season by using the appropriate form on our website.
The ingame name used has to comply with the following requirements: The name begins with your assigned starting-number, followed by a hyphen and both of them have to be in white colour. Your actual name is free of choice as long as you don't use swearwords or other insulting terms, but also must be in white colour. However a team tag is allowed and may be coloured freely. There are no required spaces between any parts and an ingame name might for example look like this:

    00-Teamtag Name

Note: in LfS there are only 21 characters usable for your name and each change of colouring uses up 2 of them. Therefore the example seen above wouldn't fit and you should consider this (ideally prior to your application)!

  3. Withdrawal/Suspension:

It is assumed that each driver is committed to all scheduled events of a season. If you aren't able to do so, you are obliged to personally give notice of this on the CityLiga-board within the corresponding thread! Once per season this can alternatively be done by a third person (e.g. teammate).

    1. suspension for one race(day):

In case a participant wasn't able to give notification of his/her absence before the race, he/she may do so up to Tuesday 20.30h. Afterwards the participant will be considered as nonattendant which results in a penalty as stated below.

    2. withdrawal from the rest of the season:

Should someone withdraw from the entire season, he/she will be taken out of all standings and loose all his/her points. A later reapplication is possible with the consent of the staff {"Orga"}, but the driver will rejoin the season with no points and in the last grid or on the waiting list if there is one.

  4. Grid qualification:

As there will probably be more than 32 participants for a season, they must be spread onto more than one LfS-server. In the CityLiga this is done by using multiple 'Grids'. The partitioning of the field onto those Grids is determined by a so called 'Grid Qualification' (shortened "GQ") prior to the actual start of the season. This usually consists of two track/car-combinations (shortened "combos") picked out of the current schedule, on which each driver has a set number of tries to get a best possible lap. These have to be done in the announced server. The sum of both best laptimes determines the standing, which is then partitioned onto the Grids, considering the size of the field and possibly 'Greencards'. Thus the size of each grid will be determined only after the Grid Qualification.

  5. Fairness / behaviour on track

Ramming (on track and in the pitlane) and unfair gameplay are forbidden.

A blue flag obliges you to avoid sudden maneuvers and stay on a predictable line. You have to let the faster car behind you pass and you may not defend your track position. This does not mean you have to immediately park your car; the faster driver must overtake in a safe and respectful manner and choose an appropriate location for it.

Neither the overtaking driver nor the one being overtaken have any rights to claim the ideal line. To avoid an accident, both drivers shall be willing to give in! Provocation of an accident by to hard driving may result in a penalty given by the admins.

At any time there have to be at least two tyres on the track (curbs included). On breaking this rule, a driver has to clearly decrease his/her speed (no advantage out of cutting) afterwards and give back any position gained to an another driver.

Is a driver not able to reach the end of the race (chequered flag) by his own power (e.g. lack of fuel), he may be pushed over the finish-line by another one, provided the pushing driver has not yet finished his/her race (i.e. seen the chequered flag). Also this has to be done carefully and without endangering any other car on the track!

Penalties given by the raceadmins have to be accepted without any discussion, so that the other drivers will not be disturbed!

  6. Course of a racing evening

To get starting permission for each race, any participant has to have completed a minimum amount of laps on that track/car-combination until 20.00h of the raceday. This amount {"Mindestrunden"} matches the total laps to be driven during the evening's races. The status can be seen on this website at the tracker within the schedule.

    Timetable:

    • between 19:00 – 20:00h training: free choice of the LfS-server for everyone.
    • from 20:00h „Warmup“: each driver must join the server according to his/her grid. The tracker stops recording the times and laps driven!
    • at about 20:15h the race day will be opened with a little briefing in our TeamSpeak3. This is the last chance to ask questions about the race!
    • at 20:30h begins the first session of the day. From now on and during the whole qualification and race(s) ingame-chatting and talking in the TeamSpeak-"Ruhechannel" is forbidden (You may talk in the other channels, though). The raceadmins will close and open the ingame chat with a corresponding message and will penalize violations.
    1. Qualification:

During the qualification, penalties (e.g. drivethrough for speeding or crossing the yellow line) must be served immediately on the next lap, otherwise the driver has to start from the last place (excepted qualifying with race-fuel ("hardcore", read there)).

Regardless of the qualification mode one single rejoin within the pitlane (the speedlimited area) via 'Shift+P/S' is allowed!

Details like length of the qualification will be announced in the schedule. It will also inform about any combinations of the below described qualification modes.

      1. by Tracker:

The starting grid corresponds to the order of the drivers as listed in the Tracker. The data is usually based on values from LfS-World, so that the times and laps can be done on every server.
In the case of 'OpenConfigs' the laptimes and their amount could and will be recorded solely at the corresponding gridserver of each driver, so that the minimum amount of laps has to be driven stringently on it!

      2. Timed one:

Drivers are given a certain amount of time to complete as many laps as desired.
Note: There will be time-based qualifyings with forbidden rejoins via LfS-menu or "Shift+P/S". This means, car-adjustments (setup, tyres, fuel) are only allowed by completing a regular pitstop.

      3. One-, Two- or Three-Lap:

All drivers begin spectating. Every single driver will then be given a signal to get on the track by the raceadmin via TS or ingame chat. It is the admin's decision when to do so and how many cars will be on track at a given time. After call up the driver leaves the pits and completes the inlap, which is not counted. Then he does (up to) the corresponding number of timed laps and after passing the finish-line for the last time he (re)joins the spectators immediately.

      4. 1-, 2-Shot:

Within a given time every driver has the corresponding amount of attempts (one or two) for a fast lap. An attempt -that may be timed by the driver's own choice- comprises the inlap and only the following one fast lap. Afterwards the driver (re)joins the spectators. During the whole qualification the pits must not be left more often than attempts are given, meaning one or two times!

      5. qualifying with race-fuel ("hardcore"):

Same procedure as the timed one, but during and after the qualification until the start of the race it is forbidden to enter the pits manually (menu or "Shift+P/S"). Contraventions will be punished with a Stop&Go-penalty right after beginning of the race, which has to be served within three laps. Regular pitstops during and after the qualifying are allowed.
Between qualification and race, all cars gather inside the pitlane and wait there for the beginning of the race.
Penalties given during this qualification (speeding etc.) must be served on the next lap, otherwise it will result -unlike the other modes- in a drivethrough-penalty right after the beginning of the race.

      6. Sprint:

This is not really a qualification session, but an 'ordinary' race. It will be short, the starting grid will be done by tracker and no points are given for it's result. The race serves only to determine the starting grid for the 'proper' race. Drivers who do not finish the "Sprintquali" will be placed at the end of the starting grid according to their driven laps.

    2. During the short break after the qualification the drivers must stay in the pitlane. Violators will be warned first and in case of recurrence the driver will be disqualified.

    3. Race:

Every single heat begins with a 'Laglap'. That means a regular race-start, which will be cancelled by the raceadmin before the first lap is complete. This period of time is the only chance to complain about a wrong starting order. Therefore and only for this purpose chatting is allowed until the proper start of the heat.

Decision made by the admin during the race are to be considered factual! There won't be any restart of the race, so every driver should be careful especially at the beginning.

An abortion of the race by the raceadmin is possible, if problems with the server server or administration (for example an unintended restart) cause many drivers to unintentionally give up the race. If more than 75% of the racedistance are covered, the race can be rated with full points. Otherwise a restart, postponement or a cancellation of the race are possible.
The arrangement will be designed to treat all grids in the same manner.

Every driver has the unique opportunity to jump to the pits via "Shift+P" and rejoin the race until the leader has fulfilled his second lap.
The same applies after leaving the race due to a disconnect.

Everyone has to pay attention to the yellow flags given by LfS and reduce his speed in a timely manner if necessary.

      • mandatory pitstops:

You may come in for a pitstop at any time, but a mandatory pitstop (see the schedule) has not to be served in the first or last lap of the race.
In case a certain time frame is given to provide a mandatory pitstop, any stop done outside of it will not be counted as mandatory.
Any requirements for mandatory pitstop(s) like time frame, tyrechanges or minimum duration will be announced in the schedule.

      • penalties:

A drivethrough- or Stop&Go-penalty must be served within three laps. That means you may pass the pit entry two times. Any further passing will upgrade your penalty from DT to SG and finally to disqualification.

  7. Penalties:

We hope that we never have to assign a penalty, but they may be necessary to protect the fairness and a clean, smooth process.

    • Absence without permission::
      • In case you are nonattendant for the first time: -60 points in the overall standing for drivers and -30 points in the team one
      • nonattendant for the second time: disqualification for the (rest of the) season
    • unfair behaviour on the track:

Unsportsmanlike and rowdily behaviour will be penalized with a drivethrough or a disqualification in case of recurrence.

    • Air Intake- and Mass Restrictions:

Prescribed Air Intake Restrictions and Added Masses for a raceday shall be respected. Not or wrongly adjusted values will be punished as follows:

      • during the qualification: racestart from the the last place of the starting grid
      • during the race: immediate disqualification
    • Violation of the denied chat and talk:
      • 1st violation: warning
      • 2nd violation: drivethrough penalty
      • 3rd violation: black flag (disqualification for this race/heat)
    • Yellow line

Crossing the yellow line on pit exit is strictly forbidden. This may apply to for the pitentry in special cases too, but will in that case be announced prior to the race.

      • violation: drivethrough penalty
    • For qualifications:
      • usage of 'Shift+P' when forbidden: immediate end of qualification for the driver. A rejoin would cause a disqualification and racestart from the last place.
      • driven too many laps: racestart from the last place
    • mandatory pitstops:
      • pitstop not served at all: Disqualification for the corresponding race/heat
      • pitted outside the given time frame: 15 seconds penalty added to the total time of the corresponding race/heat
      • no tyrechange when mandatory: 25 seconds penalty added to the total time of the corresponding race/heat
      • pitstop did not last the minimum required time: 20 seconds penalty added to the total time of the corresponding race/heat
      • In the case of multiple violations in a single race/heat only the highest penalty will be applied (e.g. no tyres changed and pitted out of time frame: 25s time-penalty).
  8. Scoring system

In case of a missing raceadmin, each driver may act as a substitute for him and he will receive a point-credit equal to his average of points gained so far (sum of all points / number of races took part in). Concerning the 'Greencards' (read below) this race will be counted as participated.

      Individual:
    • Within each CityLiga-season a driver has a set amount of wild-card results, the number of them corresponds to the length of the season. One wild-card result is granted every fourth race, eliminating the worst raceday-result (least points) from the standings, no matter which it was.
    • After each period of three races there will also be promotions and relegations between the Grids for a certain amount of the worst and best drivers of each Grid. The amount depends on the size of every Grid at the point of promotions and relegations:

below 23 drivers  → 4 promoted and relegated drivers
23 until 28 divers → 5 promoted and relegated drivers
more than 28 drivers  → 6 promoted and relegated drivers

When indicated higher grids will be filled up from lower grids by the corresponding amount of more climbers. This procedure has no influence on the amount of descending participants.

    • Greencards are distributed within the CityLiga, if a driver has completed the last season in a proper manner and took part in minimum of the half of the races.
A Greencard entitles it's owner for a guaranteed place within the last grid of the following season - intime application provided.

To get points, the driver has to finish the race (i.e. see the chequered flag). Points will be awarded according to the following scheme:

    pos. individual team
    Grid 1 Grid 2 Grid 3
    1st 200 150 112 100

      Team:
    • As a team, groups are accepted that exists of minimum 3 and at most 4 drivers, of which two are member of an real LfS-team. The applications will be done within the corresponding thread of the board.
    • The day's rating of a team is calculated by the sum of the best three individual results of it's members multiplicated by a 'gridcoefficient'. This regards the allocation of the three teammembers with the most points over the grids like the following:
1.000 if they are all driving in three different grids,
1.041 if driving in mixed grids (two in one and the third in another),
1.128 if driving all in the same grid.
    • Changes of the line-up are generally not provided, excepted that a team hasn't approached a full rooster due to minor applications at the beginning, withdrawals or disqualifications during the season. Only then it is allowed to fill up the line-up until the penultimate raceday regarding the requirements mentioned above.
Thereby the results of a former member will stay in the evaluation and the results of a new one will be considered from the point of his application on.
  9. Protests

    Not during the race!

First off all the involved persons shall clarify the situation with each other. Communication has solved a great amount of conflicts!

Each participant has the chance to file a protest against the scoring, decisions or race-incidents. This has to be done on Tuesday after the race between 08:00 – 22:00h. Protests are meant to deal with real offences and have to be pronounced in the corresponding thread of the CL-board
    The following details are mandatory:

    • Number of race and grid in the threadtitle
    • name and starting number of all involved persons
    • lap and part of the track (and ideally the timestamp from the replay)
    • a brief and factual written description of the incident (please no videos, etc.)

The claimant and the defendant must only write one single post onto each protest; posts from uninvolved persons will be deleted without a comment!
The committee -consisting of the raceadmins and before the first race of each season from the field of participants elected representatives- analyze the situation and make a decision latest within seven days after the race. If a member of the committee is involved, he will be excluded from the process.
